Our sung Mass of Sts. Alphonsus and Columba, composed by parishioner Carmel Keogh, was a wonderful experience. The music was so warm and uplifting, it was really beautiful. We were delighted to have the papal nuncio to Ireland, His Excellency, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, preside at the Mass and we were joined by Fr Enda, Fr Mike SM, Fr Michael O’Kelly from Bray, and the Rev. Gary Hastings from Holy Trinity, Killiney.

Special thanks to our organist, Tony Shanahan, to Carmel herself who also conducted the choir, to our own choir and to Dun Laoghaire Choral Society. The music was heavenly and Gerry Cosgrave, our sacristan, put on an exhibition of parish memorabilia, including Jack McNamara’s flag from the Eucharistic Congress of 1932.

All the hard work and rehearsals paid off and we were all able to relax at the reception in the pastoral center with a great sense of satisfaction. Many thanks for all who helped make the evening such a great occasion for the parish, to all who gave their time or donated flowers and refreshments, and to all who were so generous in making donations to help repair the church. An audio recording of the Mass will be available shortly on CD, and the video recording is available online at MCN Media

Ballybrack, Alphonsus and Columba (Mass 10th May 2019). There was a real sense that we are not only rebuilding the Ballybrack village church, but building up our parish communities.

Thank you one and all.
