In Archbishop Dermot’s recent Pastoral letter he spoke about how our parishes need to rediscover our mission focus. In the past when we had a focus on mission we thought of Africa and gave accordingly. However today our mission focus is on our own doorstep, sometimes in our own families.
The Evangelisation Committee of St. Colmcille’s Partnership of Parishes first mission focus will be reaching out to Cherrywood. As you may know Cherrywood will have 30,000 people when completed but no church community. So we are running the Alpha Course there on Thur 19th Sept from 7.30 to 9pm. The Lord has given us favour with Starbucks and they have agreed to open their restaurant for 10 Thursday evenings just for this Course
Alpha is geared for the unchurched and introduces our Christian faith in a friendly focused way. Many people have encountered Jesus through this key course. Cherrywood is 95% unchurched and is mission territory. We have a good team of 10 mostly from the 6 parishes but also with a COI and Methodist member. We have given out the Alpha flyers in a good number of houses and also at the Cherrywood Luas. We also have some focused ads running on Facebook as well
We would value your prayer for this Alpha Course. We are hoping/praying for 40 guests along with our Team. If you know some unchurched friends, please consider giving them a flyer. Also you may have family members who are now unchurched. Why not ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to the right time to give it to them and encourage them to consider coming at least the first night.
Please do partner with us in prayer in this first exciting Mission outreach from our Partnership
